Is Josh O'Connor cooking up his next role? Not so fast.
While hosting "Saturday Night Live" on Dec. 13, the "Wake Up Dead Man" star, 35, joked about the possibility of starring in a live-action remake of the animated classic "Ratatouille."
O'Connor previously named the 2007 Pixar movie about a rat who wants to be a chef as one of his favorites. But on "SNL," he joked that this comment was blown out of proportion, leading fans to suggest he should play Alfredo Linguini in a live-action version. Disney has not announced a remake of "Ratatouille."
"I'm not very online, so I didn't know that this was a thing until the president of Disney Pixar publicly declared that there will never be a live-action 'Ratatouille' remake, no matter how much Josh O'Connor wants it," he joked.

The "Challengers" actor was playfully exaggerating comments Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter made to Time in 2024. When asked about the O'Connor "Ratatouille" fan casting, Docter said it "bothers me" to see calls for live-action Pixar remakes. "I like making movies that are original and unique to themselves," he said. "To remake it, it's not very interesting to me personally."
In response, O'Connor quipped on "SNL," "Do you know how it feels to be publicly rejected from a job I didn't even want?"

Josh O'Connor attends the premiere of "Wake Up Dead Man" at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Nov. 17, 2025.
The actor, who has been keeping busy between films like "The Mastermind," "Wake Up Dead Man" and the next Steven Spielberg movie, added, "For the record, I don't even want a live-action 'Ratatouille.' I don't have the time for it."
But after he had seemingly moved on, O'Connor returned to the topic of "Ratatouille," jokingly suggesting that he is still hung up on the idea.
"Sorry, sorry, for what it's worth, I would kill as Linguini," he said. "Can we actually see a picture of him? His ears are huge, and 'Ratatouille' is basically a queer love story. But I agree, let's not do it."
Moments later, he returned to the subject one last time to suggest Jeff Goldblum could play food critic Anton Ego.
But "Ratatouille" may not be the only animated film O'Connor could remake, as he opened his monologue by joking about his resemblance to another character: "For those of you who know my face, but maybe can't quite place me, no, I am not the mouse from 'Flushed Away.' "

O'Connor also embraced his reputation for being a "soft boy," declaring, "I embroider, I scrapbook, I garden. I'm just your average, everyday 65-year-old woman, and I'm just trying to live a quiet life."
Review: It'd be a sin to miss new 'Knives Out' movie 'Wake Up Dead Man'
O'Connor stars as Father Jud, the latest sidekick to Daniel Craig's detective Benoit Blanc, in the third "Knives Out" mystery, "Wake Up Dead Man." The actor hosted "SNL" one day after the film's release on Netflix, joined by musical guest Lily Allen.
Allen, fresh off her buzzy breakup album "West End Girl," performed "Sleepwalking" and "Madeline." For the latter song, in which the singer addresses a woman her partner is romantically entangled with, Dakota Johnson made a surprise cameo to play the title Madeline herself.
