The Great British Baking Show is addressing an imperfection fans have called out for years.
The show (which airs as The Great British Bake-Off in the U.K.) shared an Instagram video recreating the opening credits with a key addition — the missing raspberry on the famous chocolate cake that's always shown.
"We've made a little raspberry-shaped change for the new series," read the caption on the post, which was notably shared on April Fools' Day.
The accompanying video shared a series of social media messages fans have posted complaining about the missing berry.
"BAKE OFF, EXPLAIN YOURSELVES #BERRYGATE," read one, while another asked, "Why is there a raspberry missing????????"
"Shouldn't there be another berry in the bottom right corner?" someone else wrote.
The berry has long been a subject of criticism for viewers of the culinary series.
A 2018 Reddit post proclaimed, "I HATE that a Raspberry is missing! It drives me insane!"

"I literally say the same thing every time and people think I'm insane," another fan agreed.
However, others defended the cake's appearance, saying the imperfection adds charm.

"Counterpoint: I like that it's missing. I think it gives it more of a homemade, cozy feeling, which is kind of GBBO in a nutshell to me," one Reddit user wrote.
The show's stars have even weighed in on the divisive topic.

In 2014, judge Paul Hollywood shared a photo of a squirrel nibbling on a raspberry and wrote, "This is the culprit that stole the missing raspberry from the opening titles of bake off cake!"
The series 13 premiere addressed the missing berry when bakers were challenged to make the signature cake from the opening sequence.
"What ever happened to that raspberry?" co-host Alison Hammond asked.

Co-host Noel Fielding joked, "I've got it right here," holding up a golden jewelry box with a raspberry. "That's my pension. I'll be selling that on eBay."
Nigella Lawson was announced as Prue Leith's replacement on the show in January, five days after the 86-year-old dame announced that her ninth season, collection 13, which aired in 2025, was her last.
In a joint Instagram post between Lawson and the show, Lawson, 66, said she was "uncharacteristically rather lost for words," about her new role.
"Of course, it's daunting to be following in the footsteps of Prue Leith and Mary Berry before her, great dames both, but I'm also bubbling with excitement," she added.
