Charity Pierce, whose weight loss journey was documented in a season 3 episode of *My 600-lb Life*, has died. She was 50.

Pierce's daughter, Charly Jo, announced her death in an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday, sharing that her mother was surrounded by loved ones when she passed.

"I wasn't going to post about this. But … the calling and texting is making my head feel like it's on fire," she began the Jan. 27 post. "Almost all immediate family knows so, my mom passed away today. She's up with her momma and brother and sister and she's finally at peace."

Charly Jo continued, "Charity fly high momma. I hope you know how much I love you and how grateful I was to be able to be by your side while you took your last breath."

Her words were accompanied by a photo of her mother holding her hand.

Prior to her death, Pierce was in hospice care for two months due to ongoing medical conditions, a family source told TMZ. Her health complications involved lymphedema and fluid buildup in her lungs. Pierce died early Tuesday morning, at 1:20 a.m. No official cause of death has been announced.

Pierce previously provided a health update in March 2020, announcing on Facebook that she'd been diagnosed with kidney cancer and had undergone several surgeries as part of her treatment plan.

"It devastated me bc my mom passed away from brain cancer," Pierce told followers. "After lots of testing and a million doctor appointments they figured out the cancer was only in my kidney. The next step was to get my kidney removed as soon as possible before it had a chance to spread to other organs in my body. So on March 2 my kidney was removed. And now I'm recovering at home trying to heal. I just hope the future has something good in store."

Pierce first appeared in the third season of TLC's reality series *My 600-lb Life, *where she was guided by Houston-based bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. The 2015 episode saw her open up about her struggles with food addiction and being completely dependent on her daughter and fiancée for basic care.

Pierce later returned for *My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?, *which checked in on alums of the show years later. In her reappearance, Pierce discussed quitting drinking and focusing on her nutrition with a good diet plan. She also reflected on regaining her independence after losing nearly 300 pounds and undergoing multiple skin removal surgeries.

The episode also included an update on her relationship with Charly Jo, with Pierce sharing that they became even closer amid her improving health.

"I don't want to go back to the way I was, where I was trapped in one room in my apartment all day, every day," Pierce at one point told the camera. "You can live your whole life believing that you can't change the things you just don't like … the day you see that for a lie, anything is possible."**
