Catherine O'Hara is being mourned by her Beetlejuice family after the sad news of her death.
The actress starred in the 1988 classic Beetlejuice and its 2024 sequel. Her death was announced on Friday, Jan. 30. The Emmy-winning Schitt's Creek star was 71.
"She's been my pretend wife, my pretend nemesis and my real life, true friend. This one hurts. Man am I gonna miss her," said Michael Keaton, who played the titular ghoul in the Tim Burton-directed comedies, in his own post.

Beetlejuice, written by Michael McDowell and Warren Skaaren, also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder and Jeffrey Jones.
Justin Theroux, who appeared in 2024's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, paid tribute to his costar via Instagram. "Oh Catherine. You will be so so missed," he captioned a photo from the movie's set of an empty chair with O'Hara's name on it.

No further details have been shared about O'Hara's passing.
She is survived by her husband, production designer Bo Welch, whom she met while making Beetlejuice, and their two sons Matthew and Luke.
